Introduction

This article will provide the guidance required for you to enable remote access to your LiveDDM Management Client on your Office's Local Area Network.

Prerequisites

Before following this article, please ensure that you have the following prerequisites in place:

  • LiveDDM Management Client (LMC) is installed on your network
  • You know the Name or IP Address of the machine that LMC is installed on
  • The devices (Computers, tablets, phones) that will be accessing LMC must all be on the same network

Configure Windows Firewall

The LiveDDM Management Client acts as a web server.  In order to access it from another device, you must first ensure that the Windows Firewall is configured correctly.

Steps

  1. Open a Command Prompt
  2. Enter: wf.msc
  3. From the menu on the left, select Inbound Rules
  4. From the menu on the right, select New Rule...
  5. Select Port and click Next
  6. Select Specific local ports and enter 8001 in the field.  Click Next
  7. Select Allow the connection and click Next
  8. Check Domain and Private only.  Click Next
  9. In the Name field enter LMC Service
  10. Click Finish

You have now created an Inbound Firewall rule that will allow connections to the LiveDDM Management Service from other devices on your network.

Test Remote Connection

From another device that is on the same network as the machine that is hosting the LiveDDM Management Client, open a browser and navigate to http://{machine_name_or_ip_address}:8001

For example, if the LiveDDM Management Client was installed on a machine named Server, you would enter the following:

http://server:8001

Likewise, if the IP Address was 192.168.0.70, you would enter:

http://192.168.0.70:8001

If the connection is a success, you will see your LiveDDM Management Client landing page.  If you are still having issues, please contact Support for further assistance.
